  • Magnify of Central Florida is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live meaningful, self-directed lives. We offer residential services, employment support, life skills training, and youth transition programs throughout Central Florida.

  • At Magnify of Central Florida, we partner with state agencies, including the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), which administers the iBudget Waiver, as well as other funding sources, to provide services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • VR is a state agency that helps people with disabilities prepare for, find, and maintain employment. They fund services such as job coaching, employment training, and transition programs that help individuals secure meaningful employment.

  • APD is a Florida state agency that serves people with developmental disabilities. Through APD, eligible individuals can apply for the Medicaid iBudget Waiver, which provides funding for supports and services to help people live as independently as possible. The waiver can cover residential services, life skills programs, personal care assistance, and other related services.  APD also provides Individual and Family Supports (IFS): This funding is available to cover expenses for clients not receiving waiver services.

  • You do not need to already be enrolled in Medicaid to apply for the iBudget Waiver, but you must be eligible for Medicaid to receive it.

    The iBudget Waiver is a component of Florida’s Medicaid program, offering additional support and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. To qualify, you must meet Medicaid’s financial and medical eligibility criteria, have a qualifying developmental disability.

    The application and approval process for the iBudget Waiver can take time, so we encourage families to learn about the process early, gather the necessary documentation, and be prepared while they wait for eligibility to be determined.

  • For programs funded by the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), such as employment coaching and transition programs, there is no cost to you. VR fully covers the cost of approved services for eligible individuals.

    For services funded through the iBudget Waiver, such as residential and life skills programs, the waiver provides significant funding to help cover the costs. However, it does not always cover the full cost of services. Depending on your specific needs, living arrangement, and level of support required, additional out-of-pocket costs or private-pay contributions may be necessary.

    We are happy to walk you through the details of your funding and help you understand what is and isn’t covered so you can plan accordingly.

Our Life Skills Program helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence, confidence, and meaningful connections. Below are answers to common questions about this program.

  • Magnify’s Life Skills Program is a day program designed to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities acquire practical skills, enhance their social and emotional well-being, and engage with their community. The program is tailored to each individual’s goals and interests, providing a supportive and engaging environment for growth.

  • The program is open to adults aged 18 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are eligible through the Florida Medicaid iBudget Waiver or other private-pay options. If you’re unsure about your eligibility, we can help guide you through the process.

  • Participants work on a wide range of skills, including:

    • Technology

    • Math / Money Management

    • Time Management and Organization

    • Nutrition and Healthy Choices

    • Personal Care and Hygiene

    • Exercise/Wellness

    • Creative Arts

    • Social Skills / Communication

    • Personal Rights / ADA

    • Community Inclusion, Navigation, and Safety

    • Volunteer Work

  • Each day includes a mix of hands-on learning, group activities, and community outings. Activities might include arts and crafts, volunteer projects, exercise and wellness sessions, and trips to local businesses or parks. Every participant has an individualized plan to ensure the day is meaningful and engaging for them.

  • Our program is led by experienced and compassionate staff who are trained to support each participant’s needs and goals. Staff provide guidance, encouragement, and supervision throughout the day in a safe and respectful environment.

  • The Life Skills Program operates during the day, Monday through Friday. Specific hours can vary depending on the location and participant needs. Please contact us for the current schedule.

  • The Life Skills Program takes place at our campus and within the local community. We focus on helping participants use their skills both at our site and out in real-world settings.

  • Transportation to and from the program is not provided by Magnify directly, but we can help you explore options through external providers or your Medicaid Waiver services. Once participants arrive on-site, Magnify provides transportation to and from community events, activities, and outings as part of the program on days when community inclusion is scheduled.

  • The first step is to contact us to discuss your goals and determine eligibility. If you are not yet enrolled in Florida’s iBudget Waiver program, we can help you with the application process. Once we receive the necessary referral and funding approval, we’ll schedule a tour and begin building your individualized plan.

  • Our program combines practical skill-building with meaningful community engagement in a faith-inspired, person-centered environment. We emphasize each individual’s unique abilities and provide opportunities for personal growth, friendship, and community contribution.
